Coos Bay
The working waterfront — biggest city on the Oregon coast, deep-water port, and the bay's deepest pool of homes.
Coos Bay is the coast's commercial center — a real working city wrapped around the deepest natural harbor between San Francisco and Puget Sound. The boardwalk runs along the water where tugboats work the bar, and the Marshfield district holds the history: shipbuilding, timber, and a downtown that's finding its second wind.
It's also the deepest housing market on this stretch — everything from in-town Victorians and craftsman bungalows to bay-view hillside homes and the Empire district at the harbor's mouth. Shore Acres' cliffside gardens are ten minutes west, and the sunsets from the bluff trail are free.
