Lakeside
Tucked between Tenmile Lake and the dunes — dock-and-deck lake living that people outside the county still haven't figured out.
Lakeside is the quiet steal of the south coast. Tenmile Lake wraps around the north edge of town — calm, warm water lined with homes that each come with a dock instead of a seawall. Water skiing in July, bass fishing in the fog, and the dunes are ten minutes the other direction.
The market splits between genuine lakefront (the houses on the water, floating homes and cabins on stilts) and the wooded streets just uphill. Lakefront commands a premium but still prices far below anything comparable up the coast — this is the stretch where your lake-view dollar goes furthest.
Local know-how
- True lakefront sells fast — docks are the point
- Floating homes are their own niche
- Eel Lake & Tugman trails right there
- Fog burns off earlier than the oceanfront
